Kibibi Monié, writer, actor singer and director is also a native of Seattle. She is the author of the play "Who am I", which uses prose, poetry and songs written by Monié and others such as Langston Hughes, Nelson Mandela and Maya Angelou to offer answers to many questions plaguing African Americans.   She is a graduate of Evergreen State College with a B.A. degree in Communications and the New York Film Academy. with a diploma in Cinematography.  Ms. Monié is the Executive Director of Nu Black Arts West Theatre and the President of the Local Chapter for The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). She was a supporting actor for Terminal 187 (a KCTS Channel 9 special that aired October 29th) and a principle actor in six episodes of the Bill Nye Show.  Ms. Monié has performed with Stevie wonder, Floyd Standifer, Michael  Powers, Clarence Acox, Gladys Knight, Brenda Holloway, Major Lance, Billy Preston, Kenny G and many more. She is also the only woman given permission by August Wilson to play the male role of Hambone in his production of "7 Guitars" at Langston Hughes Cultural Arts Theater in Seattle.
