Dark Divas

Dark Diva’s is a highly energetic tribute highlighting the past works of Pearl Bailey, Moms Mabley, Josephine Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, and Dinah Washington all of whom began their careers, at the Apollo. Get ready for an entertaining journey through the magic, music and motions of Dark Divas.

The Tribute

A combination of verbal and vocal harmonies meld the poetry and prose of the three great Americans writers Toni Morrison, Rita Dove and Maya Angelou guide us through family memories, words of pride and encouragement. Leaves audiences with up lifted hearts and smiles.

Voices of the Harlem Renaissance

It’s the 1920’s and Harlem was the birth place and nurturing center of New York artist’s community. Writing, painting and drama came from the likes of Langston, Hughes, James Baldwin and Jacob Lawrence. This show shares that history making time, with powerful accuracy and depth.

Who Am I?

A beautiful story of African and African American history. Starting from the plains of the Dark Continent, across the middle passage to the Americas. Share the story of pioneers, poets, and inventors; from slave’s to share croppers all the way to history making heroes.

Christmas Is All Up in the Soul

This story takes place in a homeless community anywhere in the world on Christmas Eve. Share the joy of Christmas with Sugar, Cisco, Jazz, and others. Take a close look at what Christmas is all about, family, joys, and sharing. Fun songs and Christmas traditions make this a plus for the holidays.

Why Don’t They Just Ask the Animals?

Welcome, to the wonderful world of history. This is a fun filled historical account of African kings, queens and inventors as told by dogs, chickens, owls and lions. A delightful play presented with music, dance and audience participation. This enchanting play begins with a story teller (Griot) aboard Noah’s Ark “If man truly wants to know history. Why don’t they ask us, after all we’ve been here longer than man.” highly colorful masks and make-up add wonderment to this production.

Performances are ideal for fundraisers, festivals, church events and school events.
